Boddy

Privacy Policy

Effective

Welcome to Boddy (“we”, “our”, “us”). This Privacy Policy covers both the Boddy app and the website (together, the “Service”), and forms part of your agreement with us alongside our Terms of Service.

The short version: Boddy has no accounts and no servers. We do not collect, receive, or store your personal data. Everything you enter or that Boddy reads stays on your device and, if you have iCloud turned on, in your own iCloud account. There is no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared.

1. What We Collect

Nothing. Boddy requires no account, no login, and no email address. The app does not transmit your data to us, and we operate no server that could receive it.

There is no tracking in Boddy at all, and the app declares no collected data types. You can verify both yourself in the App Privacy report on the app's App Store listing and in the app's privacy manifest.

2. Where Your Data Lives

  • On your device. Everything is stored locally on your iPhone.
  • In your iCloud. If you have iCloud enabled, that data syncs between your own devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit private database. It is encrypted in transit and stored under your Apple Account. We have no access to it, and no ability to read, recover, or delete it.
  • Nowhere else. There is no Boddy account, no Boddy server, and no third party we send your data to.

3. Apple Health

If you turn on Apple Health, and only if you grant permission, Boddy reads three things:

  • Your sleep, to calculate your sleep duration, regularity, and efficiency behaviors.
  • Your workouts, to calculate your strength training behavior. Boddy reads them whatever recorded them, so an Apple Watch session or one logged in another app counts toward it too.
  • Your date of birth and biological sex, to show guidance matched to your age and sex where the research supports it.

Boddy also writes the workouts you log back to Apple Health, so they appear alongside the rest of your activity.

All of this happens on your device. Specifically, and in line with Apple's requirements for apps that use HealthKit, the data Boddy reads from Apple Health:

  • Is used only to provide the behaviors and guidance described above.
  • Is never used for advertising, marketing, or any similar purpose.
  • Is never disclosed, sold, or shared with any third party.
  • Is read when it is needed and never stored by Boddy, in iCloud or anywhere else, and never sent to us.

The workouts you log yourself are a separate thing: they are your own entries, and they live where the section above describes.

You can review or revoke Boddy's access at any time in the Health app under Sharing or in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security. Revoking access stops Boddy from reading new data; it does not delete anything, because we hold nothing to delete.

4. Artificial Intelligence

Boddy offers optional features that use Apple Intelligence. These run on your device using Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent to us, and you can turn the feature off entirely in Settings.

5. Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, so we never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether a purchase is active; it does not tell us who you are. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. The Website

The website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and asks for no personal information. Like any website, it is served by a hosting provider that may process technical request data (such as IP addresses) in short-lived logs for security and to deliver the site. We do not use that data to identify or profile anyone.

If you email us, we will have whatever you put in that email, and we will use it only to answer you. The Service also links to sites we do not control, including the App Store and the journals behind the research we cite; their privacy practices are their own.

7. Your Rights

Data protection law, including the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California, gives you rights over your personal data: to know what is held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to take it elsewhere, and to opt out of its sale or sharing.

Because we hold none, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, erase, or stop selling. Your data is already in your hands: it is on your device, you can export all of it as CSV from the app at any time, and you can delete it by deleting the app and its iCloud data. We honor Do Not Track signals, in that we do not track at all.

If you believe we hold data about you, email support@boddy.app and we will respond. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising any of this.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. Because we have no way to contact you, we cannot notify you directly, so please check back if this matters to you.
